Demonstration of the Passing of the Veils

7 March @ 6:00 pm

A great opportunity to witness an historical recreation of the Ceremony of Passing the Veils at Mid-Kent First Principals Chapter No. 3173
(Royal Arch Companions Only)
What is the ‘Ceremony of Passing the Veils’?
Ceremony of Passing the Veils was an important ceremony carried out in the late 1700, which
formed a link between the Craft degrees and the Royal Arch.
A candidate would have to pass through this ceremony before he could be exalted into Royal Arch Masonry.

Following the 1817 partial de-Christianisation by Rev George Adam Browne, it was declared that Passing of the Veils would no longer be part of English Royal Arch workings and over time ceased to be performed with the exception of the Province of Bristol, being the only Province still authorised to perform this as a precursor to being Exalted.

The demonstration of the Passing of the Veils is the only authorised version permitted to be performed by Supreme Grand Chapter being a re-creation of the ceremony that was worked in this country between approximately 1780 and 1820. An opportunity for you to see and understand the natural flow from the end of the Third Degree to the ceremony of Exaltation. That is the key function of the Passing of the Veils and why this historical re-creation has the potential to be of interest to us all.

What was Ceremony like in those early days? – What are the four veils?
Curious to find out – book your seat now to avoid disappointment.
